This chapter gives a few examples of sources of noise in the community (broadly defined). Noise from aircraft operations is an important source of community noise, and three examples are given: a noise program at a well-established airport, an example of “growing pains” around a relatively new airport, and a situation where a change in policy created problems at relatively low levels of noise.
